Train-18 is going to set a new record. The maximum speed of this train is going to be 180 kmph. This is the first engineless train, and our passengers can also sneak into the cabin of the driver. T-18 will beat the Shatabdi’s highest 130 kmph speed and run at a maximum of 160 kmph. Equipped with zero discharge bio-vacuum toilets, CCTV, automatic doors and even WiFi, the swanky train is likely to run an 800+ km route between Delhi and Varanasi. The first trial test has been done and the test was successful, the train speed was around 180 kmph. The train will cover the maximum distance within less time. In the route of Shatabdi Express, this train will take hours than our Shatabdi Express. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the train by mid-January, the official said.
It is expected to reach the holy city by 7:20am, completing the 665-km journey in six hours and 20 minutes at a speed of around 110kmph. This is approximately two hours less than what Rajdhani takes to complete the journey.
On its return journey, the train will depart at 14:00pm the same day and reach Delhi at 20:25pm.
The train will likely to be run from January 2019. Later on, this train will also be running on other routes to give the consumers a better experience and fast quality. This is a great achievement for IRCTC and ICF. They have converted the diesel train into electric train so as to reduce the environmental pollution and also to reduce the usage of natural resources like coal etc. Many parts of our country are still using this engine which is running on coal, this increase the environmental pollution. So, this is a great step taken by the railway and the Indian government to launch the engineless train. The fare is not yet decided, but as per reports, the fare is going to be slightly higher than Shatabdi Express.
The train has rotating seats, which can be aligned in the direction of travel in the executive class. It also has modular toilets with the bio-Vacuum system, modular luggage racks with glass bottoms etc. Initially, the railway will roll out two trains with 16-17 coaches. A plan for more trains will be finalized after the train’s launch. The Train-18 has quicker acceleration besides modern passenger amenities. The consumers will enjoy the facilities given by the government. The train will also have automatic plug-type doors with retractable footsteps. All of its coaches will be provided with Wi-Fi, infotainment, and GPS-based passenger information system to keep passengers informed about the travel status. If the launch is successful and the consumers are appreciating this train the government will launch this train on different routes.
The train will have two executive compartments which will have 52 seats each and trailer coaches will have 78 seats each. The executive class will have rotating seats to match the direction of the train. According to the tentative plan, the train will start from New Delhi station at 6 am and is expected to reach Varanasi at 2 pm. For the return journey, the train will start at 2.30 pm from Varanasi I and reach the national capital at 10.30 pm on the same day.
